That's so difficult and trust me we have all been there. You're mom is probably aware that you know some if not all of what she is telling you, but she is trying to be the first one to start talking about it, even though she probably has a hard time talking about it as well, so that you know you can come to her if you ever need.
As far as peer pressure, it's hard in all circumstances. The only thing that I can tell you is that I'm in my twenties, so it hasn't been that long since I was in your place, so just trust me, if you wait until you know you are ready you will be a better person for it and if you don't be safe - EVERY TIME.
