An employee of one company recommends another company...

Employee is a delivery driver for a furniture company.
Customer asks for recommendation of who might be able to move her furniture...?

Employee recommends a specific specialized reliable, delivery company. The delivery company does the delivery & breaks something valuable.

Will the employee or the employer (of the employee) be held liable because they recommended that company to a customer?

No, they wouldn't be liable.
