Liver Function Testing is done usually when a patient presents with symptoms that are consistent with either abnormal findings in their exam such as when one palpates the Liver area or there is jaundice present or if other lab studies are elevated in relation to the liver...Your physician will know the best course of action to take with these studies....If you are a drinker, STOP...If you still use drugs,STOP. Let your physician help you...This can only be accomplished if you help yourself....Do Not jump to conclusions....You will only serve to upset yourself....Stick with the advice of your physician and you will do fine...Keep us posted......Addendum: An Ultra-Sound would be performed to visualize any abnormalities of the Liver...Checking the Bowel Ducts, Checking the Size of the Liver, Rule out Gallstones,etc....Sounds like your Doc is on top of this....
