Harassment

I'm sixteen and my mom is currently sueing a girl for harrassing me. The harassment has been going on for a long time and has effected me greatly. However, I feel really bad because the girl is poor and I feel like I'm making their financial situation even worse. It's not her family's fault for her harrassing me greatly but i dont know what to do at this point to make it stop. But my mom is pretty head strong and thinks it is the right thing to do. What should I do? Is my mom doing the right thing?

Your moms got the mama bear instinct going on...when her baby gets hurt shes ready to fight. In some situations this is good, and you should be glad that your mom cares about you this way, but if you really feel that this isnt what you want to do then tell your mom and explain to her why. Its obvious she loves you and she cares for you. She will listen to you.

Also, the reason this girl is probably picking on you is because she's unhappy with herself. Seeing you upset makes her feel better. Have you heard the saying "misery loves company"? She doesnt want to be the only one feeling miserable so she's trying to drag you down with her.

The best thing you can do for this situation is to talk to your mom first of all, and tell her how YOU want to handle this situation. Unfortunatley, your mom is your mom and her decision is final. Hopefully, she'll listen to you, though. Then, the next time this girl picks on you remember why she's picking on you. Ignore her. Ignore her, ignore her, ignore her! Don't let her get the satisfaction she wants. Be strong, and dont let her drag you down into her misery. Also, this can be one of the keypoints you tell your mom. EX. "She is already unhappy, mom. This is only going to make it worse for her...and maybe even for me."

GOOD LUCK DOLL.
