I need Fashion advice!

Okay I am 14 and I don't have the best fashion ever. I'm into pants, shirts with no cleavage showing whatsovever, plain jackets, and my hair is very thick. It's kind of an auburn color in it but not as red, more brown. All i really do with it is put it up in a pony tail most of the time and occasionally straighten it and I've curled it a few times. But I'm going into the 9th grade next year and I want to kind of change my image, make myself a little more feminine. I don't wear makeup and I want to start. I have to get glasses soon too. So if anyone has any advice on what I can do with my hair like a way I can get it cut or how to be more feminine please help. My wardrobe is boring and plain. I want to stand out more even though I am shy and hate attention. But I'm trying to come over that. So if anyone can help, please do!

Here are some ideas. You need universal items, tee shirts and tredny clothes only last so long.

The basics you should have:
-Two pairs of jeans that fit great (get a medium wash, avoid super dark or light)
-Khaki shorts (not too long or short)
-Three solid color tee shirts (basic and short sleeve)
-Button dow oxford
-Denim jacket (Make sure it fits well)
-Nice pair of boots
-Nice sandals-wedges, slides, etc.

This will complete your basic wardrobe without spending a lot of money and mixing and matching items. Buy items that suit your lifestyle, think about the places you go and your interests..if you are Preppy, buy Preppy clothes, if you like Vintage, buy used clothes. Assess your figure and take a friend shopping, try the clothes on for your friend and get their opinion. Look at current magazines for ideas and shop at non-teen stores such as Eddie Bauer, Casual Corner and J. Jill. Buy what you love and have fun shopping and trying on clothes. Eventually, you will get the hang of it.

As for your hair, check out Kelly Clarkson's hair. Why not try layers?

Good luck..I'm sure you will look gorgeous on your first day of school!
