As an appraiser of African-American art, I would recommend you look for a USPAP certified appraiser in your city/state/region who specializes in African-American art. Use the directory found at the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) website: http://www.appraisers.org/ASAHome.aspx. They are based in Herndon, VA. The ASA website offers consumer guidance on how to hire an appraiser.
