There are several reasons why aneurysms form..One is congenital weakness of the muscular middle layer of an artery; normal blood pressure causes dilation (balooning) of the blood vessel wall at the weak point. Another cause is Atherosclerosis, weakening a segment of the wall of a vessel. At the size that you mention, this would be of NO concern..Sometimes these develop from injury or significant illness..Without benefit of knowing your medical history or your age, I can only tell you that we do not get overly concerned about these size aneurysms..Unless you have a condition that is indigative of Atherosclerosis, then I would say that your physicians is right in telling you this is nothing that you should be worried about ..Having said that, if you were to have any significant symptoms such as abdominal distention, any blood in the stools that is dark tarry...I hope this was helpful...Good Luck to you and God Bless.
