My grandson cries during his bowel movements, he's almost 10 months old, so is eating some solids, they feed him formula, but very little if at all juices, and water. What can they do to help his poops be more comfortable.

Put 1 oz of prune juice mixed with his formula. Wait about 2-3 hours - It will work. If nothing happens after 6 hours do it again. Be ready for a mess though and don't do this daily, but to give him some relief asap this will work. You may also want to give him a dose of Mylecon with the formula because he might get some stomache cramps. Last time I did this to my baby I had to wash his mattress (had a waterproof sheet on it) and give him a bath - so consider yourself warned. He probably needs more fruits and fiber in his diet. A little bit of apple and/or grape juice daily will help keep things going. Avoid orange/citris juices though because they may cause a diaper rash. If he starts going "too much" from the juice dillute it half and half with water to get his body used to it.
They should contact his doctor becuase of his age though.
