Can i get in trouble for chainging my status of filing taxes?

I have filed joint for the last 5 years and would like to file head of household for 2009. can i get in trouble with the irs for it?

You can get in trouble if it's not true. But you can change it any year that your situation changes.
If your husband has not lived in the house for over 6 months, AND you have kids or other dependents living with you, you can file HOH. If he has lived with you over 6 months, you have to file married (joint) or married filing seperately.
