I have a question if you claim exempt on your taxes can you still get money back? I have two children but I am a single mother. I did claim two dependents but I changed it because they were taking to much money out of my checks. It was hard to get by.

By doing that, you won't have any taxes taken out of your paychecks

but come april, you will owe everything that you would have had taken out, plus usually some fines and fees as well for underpayment
