Can I infringe on my own copyrights?

I submitted 3 essays to a website that organised an essay-writing competition.I got selected to the top 6 based on them.I want to submit the same essays elsewhere now.Is that legal?
The website owners,I have noticed,are unscrupulous in ways in that 4 of the other 5 people selected besides me are copy-pasting from wherever they possibly can and the website refuses to acknowledge it.
So,can I reuse the essays I've already submitted?

Well they have a copyright agreement form that says all that but they never made us sign it so do they still own my essays?
