Sadly, I am afraid that is true. I always recommend getting a carfax report before you buy a used car. It would tell if it has been in the shop a lot, etc. Sounds like a sad deal and a life lesson. I wish there WAS a lemon law for private sellers, but there isn't. Next time advise her to go to a dealship.

Does my nanny have any rights with buying a "lemon car" from a private party in Kansas
I feel like my nanny who is only 18 was taken advatage of. My nanny bought a car from a private owner in Kansas for $3000. 60 days letter it quit working. She took it to a mechanic and they said it has a blown head gasket, etc. and would cost over $2500 to fix. I truly beleive in my heart the previous owner was aware of the situation. Does she have any rights? She had to broww the money to buy thecar in the first place and now she con't afford to fix it-let me know if she has any rights. Thanks.
