My laptop is plugged into the wall outlet but will not turn on

It sounds like the hard drive is not working ==you didnt by any chance open any emails with a halmark card on it ==there ia a virus that erases the boot and all identifiers from the hard drive ==if you made a rescue disk when you got your laptop now would be a good time to use it
