Can my ex get visitation after he gave them up?

My son is four years old and all of a sudden his dad is intrested in seeing him...well actually its more of her girlfriend. she has asked to see my son with out my sons father. she is saying that they are going to court to get vistation rights. ii have always tried to get his father involved in his life, but his father had always told me to leave him alone and let him live his life. Can they do this?

As far as I know once a parent has given up thier rights to a child you are no longer required to let them see the child. and the fact that he is locked up should only strength your case.
