Shorted power to the motherboard
I have a Compaq, Anyway I was repairing the power supply and my 3 year old came up and well, I accidentally crossed the wires shorting out the power supply while connected to the laptop. Anyway the power supply still works but when i metered the power imput to the laptop it showed it was connected. SO the + is connected to the - inside the laptop, does this call for a new motherboard or just components. Thanks Tim

In building a new computer, I have installed the P5KC mobo in the case, connected only the power supply, power switch, power LED, and speaker. I have installed an Intel E2160 processor and 2 GB of DDR2 memory....
My son was installing game on it and it just quit, screen went black, no running fan, no spinning harddrive but power led is on. Can somebody recommend a way to fix this?
