Thank you Susu for being very concern. These members have now left the church because they were so hurt by this situation. If they were still there, I doubt they could get any financial statement s and the Pastor was not about to be evicted. Yes, you are right there is now alot of mistrust and now these members are now going from church to church because of this situation. Please pray that these members will be heal. If I am not mistaken, the pastor and his wife do have a part in the treasure. Thank you so much Susu for being very concern. I believe that you are a woman who believes in the power of prayer.

Church that is a 501c3 making their members sign a promissory note to pay back a loan
I have some friends who are attending this church which is a 501c3. They have ran into financial problems in paying their rent so that they would not be evicted from their homes. The pastor of this church told them that the only way they can get any money is that they would have to sign a promissory note stating that they would pay the money back to the church.
If the church is nonprofit, can the pastor of this church do this to his membes who paying tithes and offerings there?
