Whats the truth about changing your oil?

I think they say "the shorter of 3000 miles or 3 months". Is that true? In some years in the past I've only driven 3,000 miles a year and only replaced the oil in my car once. I always felt bad about this for my car, but never had any sort of engine problems.

Yeah you still should get your oil changes. They say 3 months because the integrity of the oil actually changes, so even if your can just sits in the garage or the driveway, you should still get the oil changed to get the most life out of your engine!
