I want to get married but can my daughters father take my future husbands income for child support even if I dont pay now?
I want to get married but I want to make sure that my ex since he takes care of my daughter wont be able to file for child support because my fiancee has money? I dont pay child support now and we have never been to court so I want to make sure my fiancee's money is not in jepordy. He lives in Illinois and I live in New Mexico.

This is not your fiancee's child , he will not have to pay any thing , because he is not the father, you in hand are the mother, and he can only come after your money, he can and will probly file child support papers taking you to court to pay , but if you dont work , and have no money of your own , then he wont be able to collect, but why wouldnt you want to help your child, get a job , and help your child, you had the child , dont you want to be a good mother, to your daughter , and help all you can , please think of some one other then yourself , and money as a whole, can you sleep of a night knowing you dont help , what will your daughter think of you when she grows up , knowing you didnt care enough, to help her, with her needs, my mother loved me, my father did to , they gave up a lot in life for their children , we had before they did, we had enough to eat, clothes on our back and doctors when needed, iam am appauled at the thinking of some people today, with children being borned in todays world , to people that just dont care, please think about your child 1st

I take very good care of my daughter. I supply her with everything she needs from school supplies, clothing, toys, lunch money the whole degree. Her father lives in the house that I bought myself and the only thing I dont pay for is their utilities and food for him and his girlfriend. My point of the question was I was wanting to make sure that if in fact I do get married that he cant touch any of my fiancee's money that he has worked hard for. We take very good care of her but just in case her dad gets upset that we are getting married and we have never done anything legally I would like to protect my fiancee's assests because like you said it is not his child. Everything that we do for her is between mutual agreement. I get her in the summers and on holidays just as she wishes. She knows very much how we all love her so much but because Illinois is her roots thats where she wants to be. We just relocated to New Mexico about 3 years ago so its not like its been like this.
