You are speaking of the Huff Village State Historic Site, ND (AD 1450) (no reports of this one burning that I am aware of), which was one of four fortified earthlodge settlements. The others include Menoken Village, ND (AD 1240) which is the one that reportedly burned, Whistling Elk Village, SD(AD 1300) which also reportedly burned", Double Ditch, ND (1500 and 1781 AD) also no reports of this one burning. Once you let me know for sure which one I can possible help you further. Dr. W. Ray Woods is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Missouri. I have his email address, but don't know if I am allowed to post it here. Hope this helps. Susu
