Good kids books?

I am making a library of kids books for my 3 year old nephew for Christmas and I wanted some ideas on good books. He can read 1st grade books already, so anything from 1-5 grade so he doesn't grow out of them too fast.

The ones I have are:

The giving tree
Where the wild things are

My third grader loves the spiderwick books. My 4 year olds favorites are the 5 chiness brothers, The stinky cheese man and other fairly stupid tales, and I love you stinky face.
