Can a employer search you vehicle

I recently started a new job. One of their policies is no weapons on property, but it is not gated or secured. I have a conceal carry permit to carry a gun. I am female and work second shift. So I have this for my protection, which is my second amendment right. So do they have the authority to search my vehicle? And if I let them and I keep my gun in my purse, they should have no right to search my purse. But if I refuse to let them search my car, I will be fired. Legally they can't fire me for having a gun in my car cause I'm legal to have it. And our governor passed a law in 2006 stating and employer can't stop me, unless parking lot is gated or secured. What are my rights here. And what action can I take if terminated. They are suppose to start random vehicle search

EVERYONE OF YOU ARE WRONG! I am contracted to the DOD so I kinda know this stuff your employer can and DOES have the right to search all amployees and their vehicles prior to and before exiting the property.... the employer is however restricted to where and what they may search for, depending on the kind of bussiness it is and what the commodity manufactured or produced , its kinda stick but for instance if you manufacture guns, you employer has the right to make sure your arent taking a new one home with you, with would allow a search of a purse or brief case, but would NOT allow the search of an ash tray........
