He was so influential and so different for his time. A true revolutionary really compared to everyone around. Leonardo is one that art books teach as THE artist of the renaissance, but fact is he was not a great painter at all. The last supper was ruined by missing oil and water in the paint which costs millions to restore and the mono lisa he never finished.
BUT he was a revolutionary as an intellect no doubt. You're right, art is subjective - I like that dark creepy stuff - the ex-cheerleader go figure. lol.
