Can a child be adopted even if the father objects

A relative has guardianship of my dtr. for 3 years. They are trying to cut me out of her life. I am sober now, have tested clean and done all the court required and then some, have a good job etc. I believe they are going to try to adopt her. Can they do this without my consent. DCS I believe feels she should stay where she is as they are a couple, have money, etc. I am single and of average income. We went to mediation and they would not even agree to 4 more hours a month visiting at their home. My attorney says because she has been there so long my chances of gaining custody are slim. Is this true? What if I had been sick for 3 years, does that give them the right to my child. I cannot afford a private attorney and do not know what step to take next.

Three years is not so long that you should be cut out of your daughters life. You have done just what it takes to file for custody of your daughetr .You have done all that the court has ordered you to do your clean, have a good job. You must have a non caring attorney to tell you your daughter should stay there because she has been there so long wonder how he would feel if it was his daughter. I would fight for your daughter. She deserves to know her daddy. You might want to call legal aide and see if you quality for free services they go by incom and they do handle custody cases. I can tell you that they cannot adopt your daughter without your consent know matter the outcom of the custody.
