True HD is 1080i, which is basically considered standard HD that DirectTV, Charter and other cable company's offer. HD 1080p is an uncompressed format of HD with is FULL HD, it is basically what a Blue Ray quality would look like. Company's like Dish Network offer Turbo HD (1080p) and FIOS (Verizon).
