Can i sue if hippa rights are violated

I recentltl found out my ex boss, told a ofallon, mo detective
that i shot mysefl in 1992, there i s no way it could have been knew exccept in dec.04 i was in hospital and a woman i worked with a few years earlier told the staff at my then job. when i was checked in hospital i voiced my concerns severl times because i did not want any one to know. i was told from hospital i had hippa rights and she could not reveal past medical history. her sister still worked with me and told staff about my earlier mental illness. i was questioned by a ofallon detective becaue i was arressted on a misdameaner, and he
told me all about my ex boss telling him i had shot myself. until then no one knew about it , and thought it was accident
but my coworker at the time told all staff about it after hospital told me that it would not be known by any one. is there anything i can do about hospital violatong my hippa rights? thank you

You know this is a fine line between law enforcement and hippo and i really think you should consult a lawyer for this , and maybe have a lawsuit . against the hospital. go for it. and make sure they get the picture how important your medical records are . to you. and maybe this will inflict them enough to not do this again . hope this helps. and if you need any thing just let us know.
