How can I obtain full custody of my 15 year old daughter

My ex girlfried and I have split up after many years together. She left stating that she was tired of taking care of our daughter. The only time she sees our daughter is to start a full blown argument with her. She doesn't care to see our daughter for the holidays or any other special occassion.
I don't want our 15 year old to live a life of chaos and to be placed in an atmosphere where she doesn't feel loved or wanted. I love my daughter very much. I have made her my first priority.
I fear her mother is going to file for custody. How can I possibly, as an unwed father, get full custody of my daughter. She has told me that she doesn't want to live with her mother. Please help me and my daughter.

Since she left she has abandoned her daughter abandonment is a good case for court; also your daughter has the right ( she is over the age of 11) to choose who she wants to live with. You really have no problem ,get a lawyer and file for custody...also since you both are not married was you name put on the birth certificate at the time of your daughters birth? now we have a form at the hospitals for unwed parents to fill out its called the acknowledgment of paternity . the judge usually ask the child into a private chamber and asks them who do they want to live with, your daughter can tell him then that she wants to stay with you.
