I believe all states require you to notify the other party within 60-90 days of moving. And I mean moving from just the school district. Another state may require more time or same time frame, you need to check with your local court. He can make a motion to keep you here and that can drag out. For WA state there are 11 factors in considering the move. Just because you want to leave doesn't mean you can. I have seen once where they could leave no problem and it was granted...the other one they had a choice of leaving the children here and moving or just staying. If he agrees you can create a parenting plan and have it filed with the local courts. If he doesn't and you move he can file to have the children brought back to the state and contempt on you...

Moving out of state
I have sole physical custody of my daughter but joint legal with my ex. My divorce was settled in Minnesota. I currently still live in Minnesota. I am remarried and my new husband and I are thinking of moving to another state. Do I need to get my ex husband's approval legally or because I am the primary parent, can I go where ever I want and take my daughter?
