No, even students income is taxed. Without knowing how much money you are earning, I can't tell you whether or not you will get all of your withholdings back or not, but more than likely you will. As long as you earn less than your standard deduction plus the personal exemption amount you will not have a tax liability and therefore every dollar withheld from your pay for federal and state tax will be refunded to you. I would not suggest claiming exempt though, because things can change during the year and if certain changes took place you could end up owing. Just claim single and 1 expemption and look forward to a refund.
