What's your all time favorite childrens book?

As a child, I loved to read. My favorite books was a series by Julie Campbell. It has sparked an interest in all things mystery that has lasted for 40 years:>).

My favorites as a child were Strawberry Girl by Lois Lenski and (going way back) Yertle the Turtle by Dr. Seuss.

My kids especially loved the My Father's Dragon series by Ruth Stiles. Written in the late 40s, they are the most perfect books for five year olds. And we all loved Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are, In the Night Kitchen, etc. And Leo Leonni's books: Swimmy, The Biggest House in the World, Leo the Late Bloomer and more.

There are so many wonderful children's books out there!

My favorites were The Boxcar Children series and the Encyclopedia Brown mysteries. Although not really a children's book the Hobbit is great for teenagers.
