Good idea but remember they will take a % of what they sell it for. You can also try using a collectors magzine or art magzine that help sell paintings. Or if you have a museum in the area, maybe they can help.

Local galleries are a good idea, especially if his work has a market there. Fred Tullis, aka Lars Carson, who is the painter turned Chef, does have a following in the southwest.

You might want to consider using Sotheby's Auctioneers. www.sothebys.com. They are very helpful in assisting you find a true value of your artwork. They do take a good percentage of what they sell, but they bring a huge customer base to bid.

I would search for local art shows, galleries, and auctions that cater to the type of folks that would enjoy owning a Fred Tullis painting.

While most of these charge a fee or percentage for assisting you in selling your artwork, you're likely to fetch a higher price with such a targeted audience.

You might also consider hanging on to a painting as they tend to increase in value over time, or keeping it if you enjoy that type of art.

In any case, take your time considering your options. It will certainly pay off in the long run.

In an attempt to sell a painting at this price, you might try different avenues.

Try local are councel and events, along with consulting with art administrators at local colleges, who may be able to offer you some advice on your specific style of art.

Some restaurant display art as part of their theme decor where your artwork can be displayed as a part of the decor available with price tag. You would pay the business owner a percentage of the sale, which is clearly posted as priced or (price is not listed on exhibit).
