What do you know of this artist

In 1958 my father bought a painting from a navajo artist as an investment. The artist name as near as i can tell from the signature on the painting is Battles (?) this painting is about 16x20 and is very stylized with the primary colors midnight blue and white and has a deer (white) sniffing a squirel...there is a symbolic cloud above the deer. I would like to know if you can find anything on this artist or his works. I do know my father was inspired toward this work from the book "to spin a silver dollar".

I also have two minor works by a navajo artist T Yaz one of which is a burro and other of groundsquirrels. however these are more realistic than stylistic...

thanks for your help
