The battey has been replaced twice in the last 3 years. The Acura Service Dept says is normal? What could cause the battery to die?

We have an '05 Acura TL and have had to replace 7 batteries! The dealer says "nothing is wrong with the car" but I believe that there is a fundamental design problem that causes constant battery drain by the microchips in the car which are designed to be always powered. Honda just evades the issue because it would mean recalling all of their Acuras, and they don't want to do that. So they tell owners to "just disengage the battery if you're not going to use the car for 4 days or more." How ridiculous is that!?! My next course of action is to notify the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, the California authorities, the U.S. EPA, and anyone else that could possibly get American Honda to admit their problem and provide a correction. Additionally, I'll never buy another Honda automobile!

We have an '05 Acura tat has now had 8 batteries fail in 2.5 years.....the latest failure was today, with a "gennuine" Acura battery that was replaced by the deale only last Friday! The service manager has suggested that anytime we're planning to not use the car for 3 or more days that we disengage the battery. This is a preposterous suggestion. We're contacting American Honda Corp and the CA Dept. of Transportation to try to get this ridiculous situation resolved. Any other suggestions?

I too have had to replace the battery twice. I last replaced it 9/08. Since then it failed to start 4 times. Dealer says the bluetooth connection is supposed to shut down 15 minutes after the car is turned off, but it doesn't. This drains the battery. I asked if he could just disconnect it. They said no. They replaced the part Friday, Today, Sunday, the car wouldn't start again while my wife was at Walmart. I will have to take it in again Monday.

Yeah, this sounds familiar. I Have a 2005 TL and looks like battery #3 will be needed now.Tried to start it today (Sunday) and I got that familiar staccato ratatat sound.
Just replaced one last year, and I'm really careful not to start it with the radio or AC on- but the thing sucks battery juice like an alkie at a wedding.

It's not the bluetooth that does it, I dont have mine blue tooth enabled.
Clearly it's a design flaw and that's all there is to it.
It's a great car, I guess getting a new battery every year is the price we'll have to pay.

I also have a 05 Acura TL with only 39K miles on it. I am on my third battery and just had to replace the starter last week. Fortunately, Acura paid for the starter, but still. This is total crap. I didn't pay $26K for a "luxury" car that goes through batteries every 12K miles. If Acura doesn't do something soon to fix this problem, rest assured I will never buy another Honda/Acura again.
