1986 chevy astro van, acts like it runs out of gas, dies then it will not start agin

Other wise it seems to run like a new van, seems like no fire to the plugs will not try to start

Recomend changing fuel pump... possibility it could be the fuel pump fuse... possibility of clogged fuel filter or clogged gas line...

Have your distributor checked sounds like you might have a cracked pick up magnet, or a faulty igintion module, which is inside the dist. underneath the rotor.
