This s a common problem for this model , you are getting a vapor in your gas line , and the only way to pervent this , is to take an old fashion clothes wooden pin and clamp it on the gas line on the rubber hose that goes into the carb, this is called vapor lock, and it will really mess you up , or if you have ice water , pour it on the gas line and it should run right on ,
the vapor locking answer you got is a good answer --however it is something that is very rare nowdays due to extensive factory testing.-- i would suggest your pickup coil in the distributor is going bad..
Due to the fact the truck restarts after only 10 minutes I do not think it is the pick up coil. When these fail it usually does not restart until it cools off and that takes hours.
---Then the 89 ford 300 6 had fuel injection, not a carberator unless it was an industrial motor. A particular problem they did have was the fuel injectors were undernieth the manifold. When the truck was shut off they would get hot and the fuel would dissipate (boil off) from the injectors and fuel rail. Later models had a fan that came on after the truck was shut off to cool the fuel rail. (Electric nightmare) This prevented deposits from forming and plugging the injectors.
---I would guess this is a fuel issue. I had an earlier carberated ford that did vapor lock.
1. If you have not changed the fuel filter change it. It may fix it or just eliminate one possible cause.

2A After it dies -if fuel injected immeadeatly bleed the shrader valve on the fuel rail and see if air comes out. (I think it is on the back near the fire wall) [unscrew the cap off and push the little button]
2B.After it dies- if carberated. take the aircleaner off and look into the carb while moving the throttle linkage. If it squirts gas down the carb it is electrical.

3. An option is buy a code reader and see if you can track down the bad sensor or it could be that pick up coil?
It sure sounds like something i have come across on these trucks many times.the pickup screen inside your fuel tank is plugged up. It sits and gravity clears it enough to run for ten minutes untill it sucks crap up again. It happens very often on work trucks cuz employees are using gas cans and not being as careful. Can happen from rust flakes in the tank or the pump can be coroded and failing. Pull the pump, your problem lies there.
