2000 ford explorer, replaced fuel pump but i'm still not getting it to come on. I have checked the relay switch under the dash.

won't start. I had a problem with the dash lights/tail lights blowing fuses and my son-in-law wrapped wire around the 2 prongs of the fuse and re-inserted it and the truck hasn't started since. I had thought that the fuel pump went out because it wouldn't work but that wasn't the problem.

ford explorers have an inertia switch that shuts the fuel pump off during an accident, but they really shut off all the time and cause problems, the inertia switch should be located in the passenger side floor board, and it will have a red button on it push it to reset it and if that is the problem it will start, and as far as using a jumper wire in the fuse box may have seriously damaged the wiring circuit for the lights, I would not recommend doing that ever again, The light fuse has nothing to do with the fuel pump or the vehicle starting.
