302-V8 Peak torque rpm & improve gas mileage

I tow and travel trailer with my Mercury Mountainer 302 V-8 and need the RPM for peak torque.

Is there any way to improve my gas mileage with or without the trailer?

I have installed a K & N high flow air filter
