Speed sensor is toward the rear of the transmission, It will be a sensor that is placed into the tranny from the outside, and have a wiring harness attached to it, usually about 3 or 4 wires. possible more wires.
most of the time the sensor will look just like a speedometer cable hookup but with wires instead of a cable.

Some vehices have sensors in other places, example is, Dodge trucks have a sensor on the axle housing near the third member.

In addition, mid to late eighties GM vehicles had the VSS sensor incorporated into the speedometer.

In that case, you need to remove the dash, and speedometer to change it.

What is your year, make, and model?

The vehicle is a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500, we replaced the speed sensor on the rear differential and the transmission speed sensor, but that still has not helped anything. Also, we replaced the brakes all the way around.

In regard to the ABS light, did you open the bleeder when you compressed the calipers?

If you didn't, that could be the root of the issue there.

As for the speed sensor, did you check for a reference voltage at the plug?

The ABS light came on before we did the brakes, but yes we did all that when we put the new brakes on, and we checked the plug. We lost a cap off the universal joint on 6-9-09 and had to strap the drive shaft up and drive home very slow in 4 wheel drive and it did fine, then the next day is when all this started. I don't know if something got damaged or maybe pinched, but we have checked just about everything we know to check. Thinking it might have to do with the dash wiring? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Knowing that, I would definitely say inspect the wiring if you suspect the driveshaft swung into the frame, and hit a bundle of wires.

Just to check, the ABS light came on after you dropped the shaft?

I don't know what kind of setup your rear end has, or if it has any electronic components. I would look into the condition of the rear, and if driving home could have damaged it.
