You will have to remove the tail housing and he output shaft from the 2wd tranny and use the output shaft from the 4wd tranny.

Will a 2wheel drive transmission work in a wheel drive truck?
I have a 1986 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 that needs a transmission. It is currently a 700r4. I have a Turbo 350 and a 700r4, both from 2 wheel drive trucks. Can either one be made to fit to the transfer case in the 4 wheel drive by trading out the tail ends?
