98 Yukon Brake Switch location

I need to replace my brake light switch and I can not locate it under my dash. I have looked toward the top portion of the brake pedal assembly and I don't see it. Do I need to take something apart or remove something to get to it? Please help.

The (SLS) stop light switch is above the brake pedal. Below the top pivot point of the brake pedal lever you will see a rod that goes from the brake pedal lever and continues to the brake booster. The SLS sits partially atop this rod.

Removal procedure:
1. Disconnect battery
2. Disable SIR-supplemental inflatable restraint system.(this is done to avoid accidental deployment of the air bag) I usually don't do this step myself but it seems every time you work on something electrical they want this done but anyway I included the step so use your own judgement.
3. Rmove the pushrod retainer from the brake pedal pin. Use snap ring pliers.
4. Unsnap the SLS from the pushrod.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the SLS

Install:
1. connect elect..connector to the SLS
2.Snap the SLS onto the pushrod.
3. install the pushrod retainer onto the brake pedal pin.
(use a 11mm or a 7/16 socket to push a new clip onto the brake pedal pin)
4. reconnect battery.
