I've had to replace to driver's side door switch in mine for a similar problem. Mostly the window wouldn't work, but if you worked the switch, rocking it back-and-forth hard and soft I could get it to go sometimes. that got old, so I replaced the "guts" of the switch. The whole assembly pops out of the door pretty easily. There is a wire harness clipped on and then a couple of tabs that will let you take the bottom part out (that is what I replaced). Hope this helps.
