About automatic slacks

I have a question about a 2000 model trailer with a older model suspension does this suspension require automatic slack adjusters since the suspension did not have auto slacks when it came out and it also did not come with a abs system am i required to have these on this unit

There are no requirements saing you have to have them as long as it performing and handleing good I wouldnt worry about it
