Addendum to 2007 taxes

I purchased my first new car in September, 2007 and paid the taxes. Several months after I filed my 2007 taxes, I was told I could have deducted the taxes paid on the car on my federal income taxes.

Is there a way to file and addendum to last year's taxes and claim the amount of about $1,000 when I file this year's taxes?

If you feel that you missed a credit, deduction or made a mistake on your tax return, all you have to do it file a 1040X. It's fairly simple to file and the IRS just wants to know what you originally filed for, what the change is and why you are making the change.
