You know this my be because of the towing . and it may be that the reverse gear has been stripped, this will happen some times. and also you can check sensor failure in the transmission it can cause the problem to occur by going into failsafe also. Have the transmission scanned for any codes, this will show all solenoid function as well and give a direction for diagnosis
