The state title IS the legal bill of sale & transferr of ownership. It goes with the buyer, they take it to motor vehicle. Thats it on your part. If you want proof of the sale, a promisary note showing that party A (owner) is selling vehicle to party B. List time/date/price paid/ VIN #/ yr /make/modle. Have both parties sign. U keep that. They keep title.

I was not sure at what stage of the sale would show proof of transfer by my son. I did not want him to be left wilthout any documentation. The answere above was what I needed to understand.
