The boats are high quality and a good price. You get what you pay for.
Bayliners are not low quality. They actually speed very good and look good too.
Some of the smaller bayliner boats where put together at a more inexpensive cost to the manufacturer and consumer. They usually package these boats with a force engine, to be able to compete at the boat shows. This was an inexpensive entry level boat. It gave bayliner a bad name but in reality the bigger boats are of good quality.
Bayliners are a good entry level boat. Great for the first time boat owner intending to upgrade in a few years. I would avoid a used one over 5 or so years old. They're not built for the long run. Mounting hardware pulls out of the fiberglass after a few good wakes, etc. Finishes really don't last. If you buy it new and REALLY take care of it (baby it) you could get up to 10 decent years out of it. If it has a Force engine, try to find something else. Force engines are known to be unreliable and costly to maintain. The hardest part is finding a mechanic willing to work on a Force engine, especially an older one. Renken is definitely another one to steer clear of.
