Brake bulb

I have a 1998 mercury sable. Does the whole taillight assembly need to be removed to change the brake bulb. I am not mechanically inclined.

The rear tail light assembly is bolted on. Access via the trunk. Pull back the trunk matting to gain access to the side panel. Unscrew the nuts (2 or 3) to release the assembly. The lamp sockets may then be removed from the lens housing to allow bulb changing.
