Buick Question

I have a 1995 Buick Century. The last couple times I drove it, it has seemed to smoke under the hood when I came to a stop and there is a squeaky noise.

At first I thought it was water getting on the belt and brakes, but the squeaky noise is not from the brakes, and that wouldn't explain smoke from under the hood. All the temperature gauges remain in the normal range, but I haven't driven it in a couple weeks any how. Could this be a bad belt, or something like oil getting on a belt?

Sounds like a possible worn water pump.. If anti freeze leaks onto belt due to a bad water pump the belt will slip and squeal. If the smoke is a vapor type mist that dissipates like steam it is anti freeze. Check your anti freeze level and have your cooling system pressure tested. If there is a burning rubber odor and the smoke doesn't easily dissipate like steam then possibly one of the belt driven components could be locking up.
