What is a crossover auto?

A Crossover is a vehicle that looks and mostly performs like an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) such as a Blazer or Grand Cherokee or Mountaineer or4-Runner or Montero but has the running gear (meaning the chassis and axles and engine and trans) of a passenger car. Where as an SUV has the running gear more like or the same as a Pick-Up Truck. That is to say it is more rugged and rides rougher than a car. The Crossover usually gets better gas mileage than an SUV and rides nicer also. It is not built for off road use like an SUV but has all wheel drive for better traction. The Crossover will drive and handle in corners like a car also. But it can carry 5 to 7 passengers plus baggage like an SUV.
