BASICS====REMOVE GRILL-AIR CONDENSER-RADIATOR-fan-belts - any brackets in the way-timing cover---spark plugs [to prevent back pressure if you need to move cylinders later] align all timing marks to top dead center -leave timing gear attached to help in cam removal-next remove distributor ---remove valve covers - intake manifold --engine shield pan--remove rocker arms --remove push rods ---lifters ---remove cam lockes-- remove cam the cam berrings may come out with the cam plus you should use new cam berrings when changing cam ======go buy a chiltons or motors manuel because you are going to need it to reassemble and time it be careful which cam you buy some will change timing and some even fireing order--use a good assembly lub when you put everything back === good luck that is quiet an undertaking for a novice be patient this may take a few days == shorter time with experienced help---in short probably more than a weekend job
