2003 Vue hessitation and now won't start

I have a 2.2L 2003 Saturn Vue with 90k miles. Recently it started to bog down and hesitate under heavy throttle. I was able to get the vehicle home, but now it won't start. I switched the battery with another car and it'll start that car, but not the Vue.
Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure if you mean the starter on the Vue won't crank the motor over or if it cranks over but just won't run. If it cranks over but won't run I would suspect that it started to starve for fuel when it bogged down. This could be a plugged fuel filter or the fuel pump or fuel pump relay or the ignition system since I believe that is what sends the signal for the injectors to open and shoot fuel into the intake. Please clarify wether the engine will turn over or not.

In that case I would start by checking to see if the engine is getting fuel and spark. Are you positive it is not out of gas? The fuel gauge could be bad. If you are positive it has gas in the tank locate the fuel tank ,You may have to lay under the car and listen as closley as you can while you have someone turn the ignition switch to the "Run" position but tell them not to crank the engine over. You should hear at least a faint hum from the fuel pump for a couple of seconds while it builds up pressure and then shuts off. This would be normal and telling you that the fuel pump is at least running. If the fuel pump doesn't come on you could have a bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay or simply a blown fuse. Check the fuses first. If the fuel pump does come on then depending on your mehanical skill and tools you can either remove the fuel line from the front or exit end of the fuel filter and repeat the test to see if fuel pumps out of the filter. If it doesn't squirt fuel out then the filter is probably plugged or worst case your fuel pump is bad or the sock filter in the bottom of the tank is plugged. Remember gasoline is flammable and you'll need a special tool to remove the fuel line so if your not comfortable with this you could try this instead. Hold the throttle at wide open while cranking the engine over and count to five. Now pull a spark plug out and look at it to see if it is wet and give a sniff for gas smell. It should be wet with fuel. If not you're not getting fuel to the engine. Now while you have that spark plug out stick it back into the plug wire and lay the metal part of the plug against the exhaust manifold or some other well grounded metal part of the engine. And have your friend try to start the car while you look to see if the spark plug is arching. Now you've just checked for fuel and spark. Let me know what you find and we'll go from there.

Thanks for the practical steps. I have tried some and could use more advice. I added more gas to ensure there was fuel and listened to hear the fuel pump kick on. It did and I pulled one of the spark plugs to see if it was wet and smelled like gas; also positive results. So I'm unsure about the spark check. The Ecotech 2.2L engine in the Vue does not have traditional wires, but rather a module that fits as one piece over all four plugs. Can/should I still preform the check for spark?
Thanks!

Try spraying starter fluid in the air intake to see if it starts for a little while. There may not be enough fuel pressure to start the engine. Possibly a clogged fuel filter, etc.

The starter fluid had no effect. It's time for the mechanic shop. Thanks for all the advice!
